Welcome
Welcome to The JamHouse Forum.

Hi, I'm Tony Avery, founder of The JamHouse. The JamHouse is a free jam club whereby musicians and vocalists actually gather to jam and perform with one another in a friendly, easy going, non competitive, and fun atmosphere. The motto of The JamHouse is: Musicians Honoring Musicians. And it is within this spirit that we meet, play music, and socialize with one another.

The JamHouse Forum is an extension of The JamHouse and is used by The JamHouse members and guests to better know one another. The forum can also help in scheduling jams, rehearsals, gigs, parties, cookouts, and other events within our membership.

The JamHouse provides a place where member musicians and vocalists can come to enjoy socializing with one another and to jam, form bands, rehearse, collaborate, and to have a great time playing the music they love. The JamHouse opened on Dec. 8th, 2007 with 23 members in attendance and has been going strong ever since. While originally our jams were held on private property and open to a limited number of members per jam our member base has grown to the point where we now meet at local venues around Raleigh where our numbers can be better accommodated. Venues such as Fat Daddy's, Reds, Tailgaters, and most recently The Pickled Onion and Bone Daddy's Hideaway.

By joining this free forum and music community, you will be able to read and post topics, you'll be able to communicate privately with other members (PM), respond to polls, upload content, and access many other special features such as email, right from our forum. Registration is fast, simple, and absolutely free, so please, join our music community today!

JamHouse members receive notices and email invitations to jam. When you receive an invitation it is important that you RSVP your intentions to attend, or not, for any particular jam. Another musician can be invited in your place if you cannot be here. Space is limited, even at venues around town, and we wish not to "over invite" and become over crowded. Overcrowding results in less quility playing time for all.

As a forum member you are encouraged to submit a member bio, song list, and any other info that will help members to better know one another. Of course attending our jams is a fast and fun way to meet other members.

Thanks for visiting The JamHouse Forum. Please consider joining our jam club and register. You will then be ready to start attending our jams and other events. Please call on me if I can be of any assistance to you.

I would like input from you. Please click here to vote.

It seems our jams are realy working out great for us. And we are growing in numbers. The more folks we have per jam limits any one player's jam time. Also having a "Featrured Band" limits the available time to jam.

I'd like some feed back from every one who will offer it. I have included a poll which will allow you to vote between several options that may better suit your preferences on how our jams are organized and ran. Please take a minute to consider these options and vote on as many as logically apply.

I am open to other input as well. So please either post your ideas and suggestions here by replying to this topic or post a new topic. You can also email me. I'll have a record of the ideas to work with. Follow up phone calls to me are most welcome too as we can discuss your ideas and requests.

It takes all of us working together and communicating effectively to have the best , most productive and fun jam experience we possibly can.

Click on the heading above to see the poll. Vote your options.

Thanks,
T :-)

Will you help by providing your input below?

1. Yes. Lets continue with Featured Bands at each jam.

2. No. Lets jam all night. No Featured Band, ever.

3. Lets mix it up during the month. Sometimes have a Featured Band and sometimes not.

4. I'd like to have it all. I want to jam and hear a featured band too. Lets try to start earlier to allow more time for both the jam and a Featured Band.

5. Lets start by 7 PM as I can and will come early to jam.

7. We don't have enough room for everyone at TPO.

8. Ask TPO to remove the booths and allow for more tables. This will give more room for the players and the patrons as tables and chairs can be moved around, taken out, moved back in, as needed.

11. Ensure those who RSVP their intention to attend a jam get their chance to play before allowing "walk-ins" and those who didn't RSVP to play.

12. Ensure those who RSVP, especially those who coordinate with one another before hand to play together as a group, and then coordinate this with me (Tony) get their time to play before allowing walk-ins and others. This does not include our "Featured Bands". Just our general membership who take time to do a little pre planning.

13. Allow jammers only a short set at any one time. Maybe just 4 songs per set, then rotate off and then rotate back again later for another short set. This way more folks get to play sooner and can play again, and again, as the night progresses. In between their own sets jammers are enjoying the playing of others.

14. Forget all the options above and simply keep our jams going as best we can as we've been doing so far. By selecting this option do not count any of the above options as my vote if I have selected any of the others also.
